Rihanna's 'SOS' rockets to No. 1 on singles chart May 04, 2006 - 21:14

The giant leap was fueled by the song's new availability for purchase at digital download retailers. Much like Def Jam labelmate Ne-Yo's recent chart-topper, "So Sick," the song was withheld until its accompanying album hit stores.

Rihanna also had the Hot 100's top debut this week, as her song "Unfaithful" landed at No. 51. Other new entries included Phil Vassar's "Last Day of My Life" (No. 94) and AFI's "Miss Murder" (No. 97).

Reggae star Sean Paul's "Temperature" dropped one to No. 3, Chamillionaire's "Ridin"' featuring Krayzie Bone held at No. 4 and rapper T.I.'s "What You Know" fell two to No. 5. Nick Lachey's "What's Left of Me" rocketed 27 places to No. 6.

Bubba Sparxxx' "Ms. New Booty" featuring Ying Yang Twins and Mr. ColliPark rose two to No. 7, as Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" lost three to No. 8.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Dani California" jumped one place to No. 9, and led Billboard's airplay-based Modern Rock tally for a fourth week. The cut also reclaimed the top spot on the Mainstream Rock chart, sending metal band Godsmack's "Speak" to No. 2.

James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" fell two to No. 10 on the Hot 100.

Bon Jovi's duet with Jennifer Nettles, "Who Says You Can't Go Home," remained atop the Hot Country Songs chart for a second week, while Anais' "Lo Que Son Las Cosas" led the Hot Latin Songs chart for a fifth.
